Tools for Trainer Excellence provides the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in adult education. Participants will gain expertise in applying instructional techniques and technologies, fostering interactive and participatory learning environments, and adapting their training approaches to various learner needs. With a focus on practical application, Tools for Trainer Excellence empowers individuals to enhance their training delivery, foster a positive and inclusive learning culture, and become outstanding trainers in any professional setting.

Who should take this program?

This program is intended for instructors and trainers of all kinds. Whether you are new to classroom training or have

been doing it for many years, this program will enhance your ability to deliver effective training that results in improved student performance.

How is this program different than other
programs?

While rooted in research and educational methodology, this program spends most of the time applying the teachings and honing the skills that lead to masterful teaching. Participants will be expected to bring instructor guides and lesson materials for the programs they teach and modify their lesson plans to ensure they are prepared to improve the delivery of their classes.

What will the learning experience be like?

Rubicon’s facilitators are  experts at bringing engaging and interactive learning to the virtual environment. Participants will interact with large groups, small groups, and in pairs. Each participant will also receive tailored feedback based on their teaching demonstrations during and after the program.

Course Content & Layout

Participants will deliver two 15- minute practice training sessions during the program. Upon program completion, each participant will submit a 30-minute recorded training session for review and feedback.

MODULE #1

Foundations of Adult Learning

  • Introduce factors that influence an adult’s motivation to learn

  • Review characteristics of adult learners and how a trainer can leverage these for an improved classroom experience

  • Explain the expected competencies of adult instructors

MODULE #3

Instructional Techniques

  • Demonstrate and practice effective and engaging instructional delivery technique

  • Adapt instructional techniques to diverse learning styles and preferences

  • Integrate interactive methods for enhanced learner participation

MODULE #5

Giving Learner Feedback

  • Review two types of feedback: evaluative and non-evaluative

  • Develop the ability to provide specific, positive, and actionable feedback to learners

  • Offer improvement suggestions

MODULE #7

Evaluating Learning

  • Review the role of performance assessments in learning

  • Understand formal and informal assessments

  • Practice and apply evaluation methods to training content

MODULE #2

The Learning Environment

  • Distinguish between the three roles of a trainer: administrator, instructor, and facilitator

  • Demonstrate how to create conducive and engaging environments for effective learning

  • Evaluate participants’ current course(s) and apply learning from modules 1-2

Leading Energizing & Powerful
Discussions

  • Initiating, conducting, and ending planned discussions

  • Managing spontaneous group discussions

  • Dealing with obstacles to productive discussions

MODULE #6

Advanced Instructional Techniques

  • Employ advanced instructional techniques for impactful learning

  • Tailor advanced techniques to individual learner needs and contexts

  • Promote higher-order thinking skill through advanced instructional strategies

MODULE #8

Teaching in the Virtual
Environment (optional)

  • Review differences between in-person and online learning

  • Demonstrate best practices in online technologies to facilitate learning

  • Select instructional techniques for online learning
